Review & Description
Audiovox brings you the latest in personal 2-way communication with Family Radio Service (FRS), General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS), GMRS with GPS, FRS and GMRS Base Stations and PMRS (Personal Model Radio Service for Europe). Audiovox has radios with a 2-mile range for personal recreational or light business use or systems with a 5-mile range transceiver for professional and commercial use. The GMRS/GPS models are designed for true adventurers who want map locations on GPS, as well as two-way communication. The units are small, slim and feature packed. They come in an assortment of colors and what's best is that none of the FRS models require a license to use (note: license is required for GMRS units). On the slopes, in the mall, on a camping trip even for car-to-car communications when traveling with a group, Audiovox two-way radios deliver. The Audiovox 1222 2-way radio is solid 2-way radio that won't set you back a month's pay. It has the essential features you expect in a GMRS 2-way: a five mile range, hands free capability, twenty-two channels (each with thirty-eight privacy sub-channels), a detachable swivel carry clip, a backlit LCD screen, scan button, and full electronic channel and volume controls. You receive two radios so you and your communicating partner are ready to go. The radios run on either alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries (alkaline batteries will give you fourteen to thirty hours of service.) This is a simple, compact radio. Note: as with most five mile range GMRS radios, this one requires a FCC license.
